Port Vendres
Port Vendres is a quaint fishing village which is active all year round with an excellent selection of restaurants with a lively Saturday morning market. Daily fish market. It is a relaxed, typical Catalan village with everything you could need, supermarkets, pharmacy, banks etc. Lovely area for walking. Small private beaches withing walking distance.
This dream house has quite a small interior of approx 60m2 of living space, fully renovated in 2003 and tiled throughout. The ground floor consists of the bathroom, main bedroom and 'cabine' bedroom. Upstairs has a fully fitted kitchen and open plan living/dining area. Each room offers superb views. There are 3 outdoor terraces, the main spacious terrace gets the sun in the morning and the afternoons, the rear terrace is ideal for BBQs. There is an exterior stone staircase with links the two floors. There is no interior staircase. It is located on a hill overlooking the sea and vineyards just a 15 minute walk to the beach and 20 minute walk to the lively village of Port Vendres. It is on a private two acre site with pine and eucalyptus trees ideal for hanging the hammock in the shade from which you can enjoy the sea and vineyard views while listening to the wonderful sound of silence! Previous guests have described this house as 'magical' and 'a little corner of paradise'.
Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Sunday but midweek may be possible.
Accommodation
Bedrooms:
Bedroom 1 with double bed
Bedroom 2 : cabine style with bunkbeds
Bathroom: Shower room and WC
Kitchen contains cooker with hob, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker, sea view from kitchen sink!
A second fridge is supplied at the rear of the house where the BBQ is located.
The living dining room is small with superb views, it has a dining table and also a double sofa bed. It has a stereo/CD player. There is no television
Bed linen and towels included
Cleaning after stay is an additional €30
Outside
2 acre site with many trees and shrubs, 3 terrace areas outdoor dining table
which seats ten comfortably, BBQ.
Coast/Beach
There are several beaches within a 15 minute walk. Some are sandy while others
are stony. It is an excellent area for fishing or snorkelling and very safe for
swimmers of all levels.
Golf
There is an excellent golf course in Saint Cyprien which is approximately a 25
minute drive away.
Travel
Toulouse - EasyJet drive time 2 hrs 30.
Carcassonne - Ryanair, drive time 1 hr 30.
Girona, Spain - Ryanair, drive time 1 hr 30.
Perpignan - Ryanair, BMI, FLYBE, drive time 40 mins to villa.
Car hire from airports essential except Perpignan (bus and train). Trains from
London Waterloo to Perpignan and Perpignan to Port Vendres.
Driving from Calais allow about 11 to 12
hours.
Distances
From the villa allow a 20 minute walk to Port Vendres village, 15 minutes to
beach, 20 minutes to the stunning lighthouse of Cap Bear. It is an hours walk to
Collioure. There is a tourist train and boat services along the coast as well as
an SNCF train station in the village for easy access to Perpignan city and
Spain. There are many diverse and wonderful places to visit within a half hour
drive including Banyuls sur Mer, Argelas, Elne, Chateau Valmy - a haven for wine
lovers.
Skiing
The ski slopes of Font Romeu are an hour and a half drive away
Accessibility
The house itself is located on a hill and the private driveway is quite steep.
It is not at all suitable for people with mobility problems.

Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to secure a booking. The balance
is required 8 weeks prior to your holiday plus a security deposit of £200 for
damages. This is refunded two weeks after your departure assuming no
breakages. Irish cheques accepted.
